The Truth About LED Nail Lamps — Why Mitty Does It Better

Let's get one thing straight.

Do LED Nail lamps cause cancer?

Short answer? there is no solid evidence showing that LED nail lamps cause cancer.

And, yet this question pops up on all our socials and even in the salon. Talk about a buzz, right? So let's break it down properly while we nail up💅🏻 the facts.

Where did this fear come from?

LED nail lamps emit UVA (Ultra Violet A) light, which is the same type of UV we are exposed when:

  • We step out during daytime

  • Sun rays hitting our skin during a car ride

  • Mere sunlight

The concern comes from the word UV which people automatically associate with cancer.

We totally get it! But we’re gonna let you in on a fact

Truth is: The exposure level and duration from an LED Nail lamp is extremely low.

👩🔬What science actually says?

Dermatologists have found that:

  • Exposure from UV nail lamps is minimal

  • The risk is significantly lower compared to being exposed to the sun

  • You'd need THOUSANDS!! like thousands of gel manicures to have the same amount of UV dosage as being in the sun.

  • There is no scientific evident proving that LED lamps cause cancer.

Fact Check: Dermatologists widely agree that gel manicures pose a very low risk when it comes to skin cancer. To date, research has been inconclusive, and there is no direct evidence linking nail LED lamps to skin cancer. As a precaution, some experts suggest applying sunscreen to the hands before curing.

💡LED vs traditional nail lamps💡

Old-school UV lamps aren't as refined as today. They use broad UV light, which makes curing longer - which means more exposure and more damage.

Modern LED Nail lamps like the ones from Mitty 😉 are built different:

💥 Power that actually performs - From compact 6W nail lamps powering through 60W. Our nail lamps deliver fast results without sacrificing quality. Whether you're using hard gel, BIAB, polish or even soft gels!

Cordless, you say? - You heard that right! Mitty developed a lightweight, rechargeable and travel-friendly nail lamp perfect for salons or on-the-go use. Did we forget to mention, it also has long-lasting battery life.

❤️User-friendly design - With its built-in auto sensors, low heat curing, and easy touch controls - Stress-free curing? YES, please!

💁Designed for Everyday use - Durable, safe, easy to clean and designed for everyone's fingers (and toes!!) with zero bulb replacements needed.

What actually does cause problems?🤔

Most issues people experience with gel nails have nothing to with cancer - and everything to do with:

  • Under-cured nail polish

  • Cheap and inconsistent nail lamps

  • Poor-quality nail polish with nasty and toxic ingredients

  • Improper nail prep and removal

Culminating all these problems leaves us with sensitive nails that slip up in one move.

Leaving us with the thought: “Am I the problem?” 🤦

Soooo annoying, right? That's why using a good-quality LED nail lamp partnered with premium gel polish makes all the difference.

☀️An extra glow up tip:

If you're still cautious (totally fine, btw!) here some simple tips to help:

  • Apply sunscreen with SPF 50++, 20 mins before your appointment

This is optional, more so essential, just there in case you need it 😉

So..... should you be worried?

Honestly? Not at all.

There's currently no strong scientific evidence linking LED nail lamps to cancer - specially with intended use.

Fears may spread fast but facts matter more.

That's why Mitty products and our nail lamps are created with performance, precision, and safety in mind.

Because your nails deserve to shine, slay, and stay stress-free -  safely. ❤️
